Livingston Contractor Completes Management Restructure

Archie Meikle, David Charman and Graeme Hadden

ASHWOOD Scotland has confirmed that co-founder Archie Meikle is to be appointed company chairman as part of a management restructure.

Meikle (59), who co-founded Ashwood in 1999 with current commercial director David Charman, is relinquishing his position as MD after 23 years in post.

Charman (49) is taking on the MD role whilst Graeme Hadden (56) becomes operations director at the Livingston-based firm.

Archie Meikle will assist both David and Graeme during the transition period and will also take on responsibility for the company’s property portfolio, seeking appropriate development opportunities.

It is a major change for the trio who have known each other for over 27 years since their time together at Watson Construction Group.

“This management restructure at Ashwood has been carefully planned and choreographed over the last six months to ensure business continuity and retain stakeholder confidence,” Meikle said. “The company is debt free with strong cash flow and I have no doubt David along with Graeme will now lead the business forward in their typically astute fashion, strengthening the ethos of the business and build on the successes we have enjoyed.”

During Meikle’s tenure, Ashwood has grown from a start-up in a two-person office to a business with a £12 million turnover employing over 85 staff. The firm has reported profit ‘quarter on quarter’ for the last 22½ years.

David Charman added, “Archie has led Ashwood with distinction for over two decades and I am honoured to now be taking on the role of managing director. His guidance and counsel will be welcomed by Graeme and I as we begin to drive the business forward together.”
